Go down. Take what's left. Come back up.

The city up there was built on an older one and stopped asking what happened to it. GLOAM is a persistent world you share with everyone else who took a torch down the stair — strip the caches, farm the light, trade at the Wick Market, and go into the Gloam with people who will come back for you.

The stair

One stair, five floors

Everything in GLOAM hangs off a single flight of steps under the old chandlers' quarter. The further down you go, the better it pays and the less the light does for you.

A wide vaulted room at the bottom of the first stair, lit by a standing brazier, with delvers sitting on stone benches around a notice board.

The Landing

Eighteen metres down and still warm. Someone got a brazier going in here decades ago and nobody has let it go out since. Contracts start here, companies form here, and the notice board is the closest thing GLOAM has to a government.

  • Daily contracts and the company board
  • Tallow-renderer, barber, name registry
  • Your torch does not burn inside the light

What you actually do

Pick a way to spend the torch

Nobody has to do all of it. Most people find one loop they like and live in it.

Delve

Five floors on one stair. Rooms re-cut between runs, doors move, and the map is never finished.

Sit at the fire

The Landing is a real room with real people in it. Companies, emotes, proximity chat, and a notice board that runs on rumour.

The Gloam

Ranked duels and company raids with a weekly pool. Entry is free. The ladder is not kind.

Delvers & company

Collect delver kits and the hands who go down with you. Cosmetic first, useful second — a few of them genuinely help.

Salvage

The core loop. Find a cache, work the pry, keep whatever the lock lets you keep.

Life in GLOAM

It is a place before it is a game

Nobody goes down alone twice

Light is shared, not a private bar. You can light someone else's torch off yours, drag a delver who went out cold back to the last brazier, and split whatever comes up the stair. The systems are built so that having someone with you always beats not.

Earn in Tallow, spend where it counts

Tallow comes free and constantly from playing — caches, contracts, cutting lichen, showing up. $GLOAM is the tradeable side: the market, premium company, tournaments. The two never convert into each other, so grinding never becomes a withdrawal.

The Wick Market

The floors change because people push on them

Rooms open, prices move, and systems get rebuilt when enough delvers say the same thing. We ship in public and write down what changed — including the parts that did not work.
